Reflection in Image Visualization Video Presentation

~Reflection~

We watched our video presentation last Thursday for our last mission in Introduction to Digital Media. Doing the presentation was difficult for me and for my members to do as this mission was already challenging to do, we still faced by multiple trials on top of it. All of us really tried our best to complete this mission. We tried to help as much as we can even though we had all little experience for editing the video and even in photo-shop.

To be honest, it was difficult for me to do this mission as this is not what I’m good at. I was having trouble finding ideas and it took me a lot of time to create the images. Some of us work more harder than they need to just to complete our project. Only one of our members can properly edit a video. I don’t feel like I put all my efforts the adapt the skills that I learned during the last two missions because I feel like this type of project needs time to learn and need someone to teach us to create a video. I am one of the students who struggles with technology and its very difficult to learn something without guidance from someone who has more experience.

I am disappointed of myself as I couldn’t show my full potential in this project just because I lacked skills in editing. And because of this I feel like I bring my team down. I know to myself that I could have work hard more if there were more options for me to do. I also felt more discouraged because of my grade. After seeing it, every effort that we made were not worth it.

Despite all of it, I still learned something new. I learned how to use photo-shop and a little bit of creating a video. I also learned that we still have to keep learning in order for us to succeed. If I will be given a chance to redo any of the missions, I would choose this again to fix my mistakes and I would give all my best to help my members no matter how difficult it may be. I am still glad to work with my team even though most of us been through a lot and I am still proud that we were able to complete this mission.

Image Visualization 2nd blog

~Second Week~

Since our group is complete, we decided to meet up and talk about our plans for this video presentation. At first, we were having a hard time on how we should deliver the presentation. But after long moment of discussion, we all agreed to present the mission as a game show because we expected that most of the group will create similar idea such a more information type of video and some would also act for their video presentation. We wanted our project to be unique and different and more fun to watch that everyone can also enjoy.

Our game show is about guessing the images that we have created. It starts from an easy image to difficult end. I also suggested to make the game show as a Kahoot style where the sound background is catchier and could get people’s attention. As all of us decided to create our images of popular locations, people and movie scenes, everyone can all relate to it and it would be great if all the audience would participate, hopefully.

What we have also decided to do was to record our voice instead doing an actual video with our faces in it. We record our voice in a more enthusiastic tone to add more effect for the game show. We also have a script already, so everything was planned, and it just need to be done. Most of us in this project don’t have enough experience in video editing but we all managed to get a head start and start the video presentation by doing a slideshow first where all the completed images are put together.

I was struggling to find any good photoshop software that I could use to edit my images. However, my group was very helpful as they suggested an app called Gimp. This app was helpful to me and it’s very easy to use even though there are a lot of editing options. I was still able to create my images though I never used it before. One of my colleagues also helped me on how to use Gimp by talking through Skype.

Before I start editing, I collected the images first using secondary sources and we also must copy the images link of each (we could use it as long as we have state where the image come from). Then, I used the Gimp software to edit the images where I must individually crop each photo and put each image on top of each other to create and illusion and make the actor’s/actress’ face unrecognisable. We also need to change to opacity of each image so the previous images would still appear slightly. I collected 25 images approximately for each actor to create my finished image.

After the long process of creating this last mission, we completed it at last. We made sure that every task was ticked before submitting it. I hope everyone could see the effort of our group put in on this presentation and I wish everyone luck on their video presentation as well because this last mission is the most challenging task that we ever did, in my opinion.

Image Visualization 1st blog

~First Week~

During the first week of our last mission for this semester in Intro Digital Media, we were given a theme called “methodology”. I find the theme choices really challenging because they are not the same as the first two projects where it was straightforward and relatable. It also took me a lot of time to decide which one I am going to do because they are all very specific topics.

However, I decided to choose the topic called Image visualization as it is the closest thing to my interest. I also paired up with two people from different groups such as, Vince from group 3 and Rob from group 2. I think this project will be challenging for me because we must create a video presentation which I am not very good at and I don’t have much of experience. Working with other people from different groups would also be challenging because we must find a day where the three of us are free to work together. I hope everything will be okay and we will get through this mission.

The more I learn about image visualization the more interesting it gets. While I was reading the information about this topic, I realized that there are so many different types of visualization such as the bar-code and film visualization. There was also an example about face visualization called Selfiecity where they create a series of selfie styles in different countries. I find it interesting, so I decided to create my images of two famous actors and actresses which is Margot Robbie and Robert Downey Jr. Vince decided to do his visual creativity images about famous locations in Dublin.

Me and Vince were also struggling on looking for our last group member because we couldn’t find anyone who wants to do this mission that we haven’t work with. Luckily, we were able to find another member which is Rob from group two before the first week ends. He decided to do his images about famous movie scenes.

Reflection in Blogging Presentation

~Reflection~

We did our blogging presentation yesterday for Introduction to Digital Media. Overall, we were happy with the outcome as we presented well, and we really did our best. I was also happy with our presentation because I achieve the goals that I wanted to acquire such as being more confident and comfortable talking in front of our class.

Working with my friends was handy because we are always together so we have more time to discuss our work and it was easy for us to communicate. It also helped us to avoid any misunderstanding as we already know each before the presentation. What I also like working for this mission is that everything was easy for me to do because I know what I’m doing, and I really want to share my passion to everyone.

Doing blogging for the mission was a really good experience for me because I get to share my hobbies and experiences to other students. I also learned a lot of new skills while I was doing this presentation for three weeks and I used those skills for my main blogs for college works and because of this I became more comfortable writing and designing my own blogs.

I also hope that our blogs inspired other students to start their own blog-site or just even gets inspired by our own stories and idea.

I also want to reflect on myself. During my first mission, I feel like I didn’t have more time to do my project. So, I decided to improve my time management in this presentation which I feel like I accomplished it. I also think that I put more effort on this mission more than the last the last one because I feel more confident and I also have an idea already on how to show my work that’s why I find it quick to do to my blog. I also love working with my group because all of us got to say our opinions and advice and I feel like I wasn’t the only one working hard for this mission. If I would given the opportunity to work with them again, I would gladly accept it.

Blogging Presentation part 2

~Second Week~

There is a little bit of a problem because I am having trouble finding a good blog-site as some of them needs payments in order for me to use them and some are just too difficult to use such as Weebly. I was using it for two days trying to be familiar with its templates and layouts, but the instructions weren't clear enough for me. I hope I will be able to find a good blog-site tomorrow as we only have this week to get everything done.

Luckily, I was able to find a good blog-site called Square Space. This is one of the easiest sites that I have ever used throughout this project because both of its tutorial and layout was easy to understand and to get used to. Square Space also have some good templates that you can use, and it is also convenient for bloggers because you can also create multiple blogs with different ideas for example, business blog-site or just for your hobbies.

 

During our second week, we started to complete our slideshow by putting all the research information about the history of blogging and we also explore about famous bloggers. We decided to put famous bloggers in the presentation because we were interested to see how bloggers became famous by doing what they are passionate about and because my blog is also about my hobbies, it really inspired and helped me a lot on what to talk about.

We all agreed to split some of the task for the slideshow to finish it faster which was a good idea because it really shows that all of us are working together till the end. It is also going to be handy for us if we finish the slideshow earlier this week, so we have more time to edit our blog-site.

I started my blog by introducing myself and I talked about how I started to love art and who influenced me to draw throughout years. I also decided to create two separate parts for my drawing and photography images to have a clear and neat blogsite, so everyone won’t have difficulty when they visit it.

Me and my group meet up throughout the week to work together and to also talk about how we are doing for the presentation. Communicating with them every week was very convenient because we get to give each other feedback in we are having trouble doing our task.

Blogging presentation part 1

~FIRST WEEK~ 

 

Today we got our second Introduction to Digital Media project with a given theme called “Culture”. This task has a wider variety of topics that I am familiar with, such as Youtubing, blogging, memes and selfies. I find this topic more relatable compared to the previous one because it allows us to be more personal for example, choosing Youtubing or blogging can give you a chance to talk more about your personal interests or hobbies. You can also try new things if you want to have a YouTube video.

I decided to do blogging for this mission since I already have an experience on how it works as we are required to blog most of our works in college. I also had an idea on what I would do for my blog, I want to share my artworks and photography from the day I started doing them and until now to show my improvements. I also want to let everyone know that everyone can become what they want to be as long as they work hard for it. I find this topic quite convenient since I already have artworks and photographs ready from previous years. The only challenge for me now is how should I deliver my idea to connect with the audience and make them understand my views, and I must also look and learn how to become more comfortable with the new layout of the blogsite that I will be using for this mission.

I was lucky to have formed a group immediately with the people that I'm already friends with. The people that I will be working with are Enoh Flanagan and Khang Pham from my group. I am also hoping that my goup and i will communicate and work with each other. 

Before we start our blogging presentation, we planned what we must do first by going through the mission information together again and discuss our ideas. All of us have good ideas for our blogging presentation and we came into a conclusion that all of us should find a blog-site to try and experiment its layout and other elements on each blog-site. At the end of this mission we will compare the blog-sites that we used to identify which one has the best blog site platform to use and we will also talk about our experiences and their advantages and disadvantages.

Enoh decided to do her blog about the types of music and singers that she listens to while Khang did a fan page about his favorite football player, Lionel Messi. Each of us have different ideas and topics about our blogs which makes it more interesting because we don’t do the same thing so we can all discuss the differences easily.

My goal for this mission is:

·             To improve my confidence when presenting

·             To gain more knowledge about blogging

·             Improve my communication skills

·             Improve my IT skills

·             Learn effective time management
